Stevenson Shares Thoughts on Mega-Fight
Wherever Canelo vs Crawford takes place, it will be for the undisputed super middleweight crown, following Canelo’s win over Scull to claim the IBF title.
When asked about Alvarez-Crawford, Shakur said: “I think Bud gonna cook Canelo. I think he’s gonna cook him. I think, you know, Canelo a hell of a fighter, but I think Bud just got all the tools to beat him.”
Stevenson was asked if he thought the weight difference would be a factor: “I think y’all make that something,” said Shakur. “If this was like a Benavidez, he’s actually a lot bigger than Bud. So that would apply.
“But I feel like with Canelo, he’s like physically kind of big, but height-wise, he’s kinda small,” added Stevenson.
When asked if he sees a decision or stoppage victory for Crawford, he said: “I think that’s possible (a stoppage). I’m not saying that it’s gonna happen, but I think it’s a possibility if Canelo get to acting out of line and not understanding that Bud can crack too.”
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford
Looking ahead to this mammoth fight, Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) must move well early on. He needs to stay mobile, make Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) come to him, and showcase his exceptional counter-punching skills. Alvarez will need to move his head well, prove he can still cut off the ring and work Crawford’s body, to slow him down.
Crawford’s switch-hitting will pose a complex puzzle for Canelo to overcome, but he has a wealth of experience in huge fights against the very best fighters.
