‘We Are Now Working’: Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter Teases Huge Fight Plans
On December 21, 2024, Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) confirmed his dominance in the heavyweight division, defeating Tyson Fury once again to retain his WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight titles. Usyk previously relinquished his IBF title which was then awarded to Daniel Dubois, who Usyk had previously beaten. Many rumours have been swirling about what will be next for the Ukrainian fighter. His promoter Alex Krassyuk has revealed to Sky Sports the plans in the works for team Usyk.

Alexander Krassyuk Hints at Huge Rematch
Daniel Dubois was due to defend his IBF world title on February 22 against Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs), before withdrawing from the fight due to illness, resulting in Martin Bakole stepping up to take his place. It now appears that the plan is for “Dynamite” to not face Parker – and go straight into an undisputed clash vs Usyk.
The Brit was ringside for Usyk-Fury 2 and stormed into the ring after the fight to demand his shot at undisputed glory against the Ukrainian. It now seems “Dynamite” will get that opportunity, with Alexander Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, telling Sky Sports: “We are now working on this fight [Usyk vs Dubois II], Wembley as one of the options.”
Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois I
Dubois-Usyk I took place on August 26, 2023, with the Ukrainian winning via ninth-round KO. The Brit dropped Usyk in the fifth round, though opinions remain split on whether it was a low blow.
The referee ultimately deemed it a low blow, and Usyk quickly got back into his groove, moving well and picking his shots, leaving Dubois frustrated. A beautiful combination from Usyk forced Dubois to take a knee in the eighth round before the Ukrainian forced Dubois down in the ninth, with the Brit failing to beat the count.
Despite the ‘low blow’ controversy, Usyk dominated most of the fight, but this is a new, confident Dubois, and could he become the undisputed heavyweight champion should this rematch be made?
