At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 1, Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) endured arguably his toughest time in the ring as he controversially held onto his WBA lightweight title, via a majority draw against Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs). The Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card was available through Prime Video or PPV.com. Ryan Garcia soon shared his views via his X account on the controversial ninth-round no-knockdown decision.

The Baltimore native had his moments, especially with the left hand, but “The Reaper” took the shots well. The ninth round saw “Tank” take a knee shortly after a jab from Roach and soon retreated to his corner, where his face was wiped. Everyone was confused as the referee failed to enforce the mandatory eight count. That moment proved pivotal as the scorecards were read: 115-113 for Davis, while the other two read 114-114, ensuring Davis retained his WBA title via a majority draw.
Ryan Garcia Shares His Thoughts
Ryan Garcia is due to return to action on The Ring Magazine Times Square card, where he is set to face Rolly Romero in his first fight since the controversial bout against Devin Haney and subsequent drug ban.

It seems this won’t be the last we hear of Davis-Roach 2. With all the controversy surrounding round nine, a rematch feels inevitable. “The Reaper” deserves a rematch after his spirited showing in Brooklyn.
