Ranking Every Winner from the Matchroom Boxing NxtGEN Fight Card

On Friday, January 31, at the Indigo at The O2, Greenwich, Matchroom Boxing hosted their latest NxtGEN fight card, headlined by George Liddard vs. Derrick Osaze, with Junaid Bostan (10-0-1, 8 KOs) vs. Bilal Fawaz (9-1-1, 3 KOs) in the co-main event slot. Big Fight Weekend are ranking every winner from the night.

Matchroom Boxing: Ranking Every Winner from the NxtGEN Fight Card

Matchroom Boxing Main Event: 1. George Liddard vs. Derrick Osaze

George Liddard (11-0, 6 KOs) faced “The Punching Preacher,” Derrick Osaze (13-3, 3 KOs) in the main event. Despite it not being a classic, Liddard landed the more eye-catching shots, and it was the toughest test of his career, which he came through, with the judges awarding him the unanimous decision win (97-93 and 96-94 x2). Liddard deserves to be ranked first and win the Commonwealth silver middleweight title

2. Giorgio Visioli vs. Francisco Javier Lucero

Super featherweight prospect Giorgio Visioli (6-0, 5 KOs) impressed on the Matchroom Boxing NxtGen undercard with a dominant stoppage win over Francisco Javier Lucero (16-7-4, 12 KOs). His slick movement and sharp counter-punching stole the plaudits from all inside the indigo. 2025 looks set to be a big year for this talented prospect.

3. Jimmy Sains vs. Pierre Rosadini

Big punching Jimmy Sains (9-0, 9 KOs) showed his poise and power as he broke down the durable Frenchman Pierre Rosadini (6-7-3, 0 KOs) with referee Kieran McCann deeming Rosadini in no position to continue.

4. Taylor Bevan vs. Szymon Kajda

Taylor Bevan (2-0, 2 KO) impressed the vocal Southampton fans inside the Indigo with an impressive second round stoppage win over Szymon Kajda (1-1-1, 1 KO). He picks his punches well and throws with plenty of spite. The 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medallist looks set to make a big splash in the professional ranks.

5. Maisey Rose Courtney vs. Jasmina Nad

Maisey Rose Courtney (8-1, 0 KOs) lost her unbeaten record last year against Jasmina Zapotoczna but kicked off the night with a dominant performance against Jasmina Nad (11-34-5, 4 KOs), securing her second consecutive win (60-54) since that sole professional defeat.

6. Junaid Bostan vs. Bilal Fawaz

Junaid Bostan (10-0-1, 8 KOs) and Bilal Fawaz (9-1-1, 3 KOs) fought to a scrappy yet entertaining draw (97-93 Fawaz, 96-94 for Bostan and 95-95). Bostan looked in control yet underwhelming early on before Fawaz landed with far more regularity in the second half of the fight. It was a disappointing yet entertaining contest. The only fight for both appears to be the rematch and from the heated post-fight interview, it seems that it will be an immediate rematch.

7. Leli Buttigieg vs. James Todd

19-year-old Leli Buttigieg (7-0, 1 KO) had to tough it out to defeat James Todd (4-5-2, 0 KOs). Todd is a tough fighter who doesn’t stop coming forward, but the cleaner work came from Buttigieg, and he deserved the 58-56 decision. It was a fight that had plenty of endeavour, but was lacking in quality.

8. Jesse Brandon vs. Jonatas Rodrigo Gomes de Oliveira

Jesse Brandon (5-0, 1 KO) defeated Rodrigo Gomes de Oliveira (6-19, 5 KOs) in the before-the-ball super lightweight bout. It wasn’t a bad fight by any means, but nothing really happened. Brandon boxed safely and smartly, deserving the 60-54 victory.

Overall, it was an entertaining night of action from Matchroom Boxing, with Liddard winning his first title and Giorgio Visioli shining once again.
