Middleweight with ‘Bright Future’ Signs Long-Term Deal with BOXXER

BOXXER Promotions continue to make waves in the world of professional boxing. His Excellency Turki Alalshikh recently announced a major new partnership between Riyadh Season and BOXXER which began with the October 19 card at the Copper Box Arena in London, headlined by Adam Azim vs. Ohara Davies. Appearing on the October 19 card was middleweight Sam Hickey making his professional debut and it has now been announced that the 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallist has signed a long-term deal with BOXXER.

Hickey Aiming for the Top After Signing Deal

The 24-year-old Dundee native will be trained and managed by Robert McCracken. His professional debut was a dominating one, as he comfortably defeated John Henry Mosquera.

Reflecting on the long-term deal with BOXXER, Hickey said: I’m delighted to have signed with BOXXER.”

He continued: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for me. Sky Sports are one of the biggest broadcasters in the world and to box on their platform under the BOXXER banner is going to be great exposure for me and for people who want to follow my journey.”

Aiming to follow in the footsteps of his stablemates, the 24-year-old said: “I looked at ex-Team GB boxers like Lauren Price and Joshua Buatsi and the job BOXXER has done with them is great and I’d like to follow in their footsteps.”

Aiming to emulate great Scottish fighters, he said: “I want to go all the way to become a world champion while representing Scottish and British boxing. I’d like to follow in the footsteps of great Scottish boxers like Ken Buchanan or in more recent times Scott Harrison, Ricky Burns and Josh Taylor.”

Hickey added: “I want to bring world titles and massive fights back to Scotland.”

Ben Shalom Reacts

“We’re delighted to have secured Sam’s signature,” said BOXXER founder and CEO Ben Shalom.

Shalom continued: “Sam has a very bright future ahead of him and with the backing of BOXXER and Sky Sports, he can go all the way!”
