O’Shaquie Foster Gets His Revenge Against Robson Conceição

O’Shaquie Foster (23-3, 12 KOs) got his revenge over Robson Conceição (19-3-1, 9 KOs, 1 NC).

While one judge had their fight 115-113 for Conceição, the other two saw it 115-113 for Foster. With the win, the American is again the WBC super featherweight world champion. Foster previously held the title but lost it to Conceição via split decision earlier this year in their first meeting. The WBC ordered a rematch, resulting in the pair fighting in Verona, NY.

The two headlined a Top Rank card at the Turning Stone Resort Casino. Boxing fans in the United States could catch the action live on ESPN+. Those in Canada were able to do so with TSN+. Sky Sports+ were broadcasters for those in the United Kingdom.

Fight Recap

The opening round saw both fighters actively throw out the jab. Conceição and Foster stayed active in the early rounds, throwing plenty of jabs and shots to the body. Of the two, Foster was the more accurate. However, the reigning champion was the busier one in the first half of the contest.

Clinching was frequent throughout the bout. Conceição appeared to tire more compared to his opponent as the fight progressed. There were moments where Foster stunned the Brazilian but did little to capitalize on it. While Conceição may have had the busier start, Foster’s accuracy allowed him to clinch rounds in a close fight and land more over 12 rounds. In the end, two of the judges preferred his work over that of Conceição’s.
