Boxing in 2024 has been a memorable year thus far, with undisputed clashes and fascinating world title matchups, with many more bouts still to come. Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois

On September 21 at Wembley Stadium, Anthony Joshua met Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title, with “Dynamite” knocking AJ down four times, stopping him in round five. According to Sporty Salaries, Joshua would earn a guaranteed purse of £6m. If the PPV buys hit 850k, AJ would earn a staggering figure north of £25 million. Dubois had a guaranteed purse of 3.5 million and if PPV sales hit that 850k, he would earn 8 million.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia

On May 4, Canelo Alvarez successfully defended his undisputed super middleweight crown against Jaime Munguia at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. The early part of the fight saw both have success, trading hooks. The fight swung Canelo’s way in round four as he landed a right uppercut flooring his opponent. Canelo produced the smarter work throughout the fight and deserved to retain his undisputed status, winning by unanimous decision – with the judges scorecards reading 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112. As revealed by Dan Rafael, Alvarez had a guaranteed purse of “north of $35 million,” for the fight. Sporty Salaries revealed Munguia received $6m. 

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury

Oleksandr Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world on May 18. His win over Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was a historic truimph for the Ukrainian and for boxing. It was a fascinating contest from start to finish, with both having their success, but this fight will forever be remembered for the ninth round, where Usyk rocked Fury, almost stopping “The Gypsy King.” According to Marca, Fury was the purse winner, netting an eye-watering $100 million. Usyk, with his new collection of belts, banked $45 million.
