Boxing at the Olympics: Day Two Results Including Big Upset in Men’s 92kg Division

The 2024 Paris Olympics are underway, and boxing is back again at the leading international sporting event.

Big Fight Weekend will be covering the action as it unfolds, so be sure to return to the site each day for the daily result recap. Below are the results for the second day of boxing at the Olympics.

Boxing at the Olympics: Day Two Results

Morning Session

Roscoe Hill (United States) won on points against Omid Ahmadisafa (Refugee Olympic Team). All five judges scored the men’s 51kg bout in favour of Hill.

Rami Mofid Kiwan (Bulgaria) won on points against Damian Durkacz (Poland). All five judges scored the men’s 71kg fight in favour of Kiwan.

Makan Traore (France) won on points against Aidan Walsh (Ireland). While one judge had the men’s 71kg clash a draw, the other four saw it in favour of Traore.

Aibek Oralbay (Kazakhstan) won on points against Olaitan Adam Olaore (Nigeria). All five judges had the men’s 92kg contest in favour of Oralbay.

Enmanuel Reyes Pla (Spain) won on points against Han Xuezhen (China). While one judge saw the men’s 92kg bout in favour of Xuezhen, the other four had it for Reyes Pla.

Nikhat Zareen (India) won on points against Maxi Carina Kloetzer (Germany). All five judges had the women’s 50kg fight in favour of Zareen.

Ingrit Lorena Valencia Victoria (Colombia) won on points against Oyuntsetsegiin Yesügen (Mongolia). All five judges had the women’s 50kg clash in favour of Victoria.

Aneta Rygielska (Poland) won on points against Rosie Eccles (Great Britain). While two judges had the women’s 66kg contest in favour of Eccles, the other three had it in favour of Rygielska. The scoring of this bout was controversial as Rygielska lost a point in round three and Eccles had appeared to have done enough to get the win by the fight’s conclusion.

Nebil Ibrahim (Sweden) won on points against Wasim Abusal (Palestine). All five judges had the men’s 57kg bout in favour of Ibrahim.

Zeyad Eashash (Jordan) won on points against Aslanbek Shymbergenov (Kazakhstan) in an upset. While two judges had the men’s 71kg fight in favour of Shymbergenov, the other three had it of Eashash. Shymbergenov is a gold medalist from the 2023 World Championships.

Victor Schelstraete (Belgium) won on points against Ato Plodzicki-Faoagali (Samoa). All five judges had Schelstraete winning the men’s 92kg contest.

Loren Berto Alfonso Domínguez (Azerbaijan) won on points against Julio César De La Cruz Peraza (Cuba). While two judges had the men’s 92kg clash in favour of De La Cruz, the other three saw it for Domínguez. This was yet another upset as De La Cruz is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and was looking for his third in Paris.

Lazizbek Mullojonov (Uzbekistan) won on points against Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine (Italy). While one judge had the men’s 92kg bout in favour of Mouhiidine, the other four had it for Mullojonov.

Nazym Kyzaibay (Kazakhstan) won on points against Giordana Sorrentino (Italy). While one judge had the women’s 50kg contest in favour of Sorrentino, the other four saw it for Kyzaibay.

Fatima Herrera (Mexico) won on points against Laura Fuentes Fernandez (Spain). While two judges had the women’s 50kg clash in favour of Fernandez, the other three had it for Herrera.

Anna Luca Hamori (Hungary) won on points against Grainne Walsh (Ireland). While one judge had the women’s 66kg fight in favour of Walsh, the other four saw it for Hamori.

Evening Session

Tago Muxanga (Mozambique) defeated Magomed Elim Sultanovic Schachidov (Germany) in the Men’s 71kg division via a 4-1 split decision.

Keno Marley Machado (Brazil) beat James Patrick Brown (Great Britain) 4-1 in the Men’s 92kg division. Its been a dreadful start so far for the GB squad.

Jack Marley (Republic of Ireland) won 4-1 against Mateusz Bereznicki in the Men’s 92kg competition.

Davlat Boltaev (Tajikistan) won 3-2 against Georgii Kushitashvili (Georgia) in an entertaining fight in the Men’s 92kg division.

Pihla Kaivo-Oja (Finland) dominated, defeating Margaret Tembo (Zambia) 5-0 in their Women’s 50kg bout.

Aira Villegas (Philippines) progressed to the round of 16 after defeating Yasmine Mouttaki (Morocco) 5-0 in their Women’s 50kg contest.

Nien Chin Chen (Chinese Tapei) defeated Maria Altagracia Moronta Hernandez (Dominican Republic) 4-1 in the Women’s 66kg division.

Alcinda Lucas dos Santos (Mozambique) got a deserved 5-0 victory against Jessica Triebelova (Slovakia). She inflicted a knockdown in round one and enjoyed a strong final round to progress to the last 16 in the Women’s 66kg competition.
