‘Aiming to Finalise a Deal’: Potential Next Opponent for Adam Azim Revealed

Before Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke served up their all-time British Easter classic on Sunday, March 31, Adam Azim and Harlem Eubank came head to head as both teased a potential showdown between the two unbeaten super lightweight prospects, who are “aiming to finalise a deal.”

Adam Azim vs. Harlem Eubank Edges Closer

Barry McGuigan and Chris Eubank Sr Speak

Rising stars Azim and Eubank faced off in the ring before the main event at the 02 Arena, to reveal negotiations are ongoing for them to fight. Both were joined in the ring by Barry McGuigan and Chris Eubank Sr, who confirmed both sides wanted to make this fight happen.

McGuigan, whose son Shane manages and trains Azim was full of praise for him and respectful for the potential opponents: “Adam Azim is a special talent.” He continued: “[We’ve got] Great respect for Harlem Eubank and his Uncle Chris.”

“It’s a great legacy, but Adam Azim is a sensational talent and I believe he will beat Harlem comprehensively.”

Eubank Sr was keen to talk up the chances of his nephew: “Harlem is going to take that front seat,” Eubank Sr said. “He is fighting with his heart, as you will see.”

“His style is like that of Sugar Ray Leonard’s and his fortitude is that of mine.”

“We’re Eubank, we’re not here to play.”

Adam Azim and Harlem Eubank React

Azim retained his European strap in his last fight after Enock Poulsen collapsed in pain following a dislocated shoulder in the fifth round. That victory took his record to 11-0, 8 KOs since turning professional. Eubank improved his record to 19-0, 8 KOs, with an impressive 11th-round stoppage win against Timo Schwarzkopf to win the WBO Global belt last November.

Azim expressed his confidence regarding this potential fight: “This is what I wanted,” Azim said. “He might be Eubank, but I’m Azim, so it’s going to be an Azim takeover.”

Eubank revealed his doubts regarding his potential opponent: “I don’t believe he wants it,” Eubank said. He continued: “His team organise everything for him, his team are clearly excited, but I know he doesn’t want it.”
