May says pressure is on Dickens

Nathaniel May insists that all of the pressure is on Jazza Dickens ahead of their IBF European featherweight title fight on Friday’s massive #MTKFightNight event at the Liverpool Olympia.

The Australian star May (21-1, 12 KOs) takes on Dickens (26-3, 11 KOs) live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank Boxing in the United States and live on iFL TV everywhere else, and with the fight being in the hometown of Dickens, May thinks that plays a big factor in the fight.

May said in a press release: “The pressure is on him. If he wins he’s a hero but if he loses it’s something different that he doesn’t want. You can always expect me to show up in a good fight so it’s up to Jazza to show up and bring it.

“I’m looking forward to getting the job done. I’ve watched him a few times and always said I’d love to fight him in the future, and here it is. This is a fight that will get me on the big stage and get my name in the spot for a title shot.

“My last camp went great. I was sparring better than ever and the whole camp went really well, so I’m ready. It’s great to be headlining too, this is a big bill with big names on it and it’s great to be a part of it.”

Dickens vs. May is part of a huge #MTKFightNight event in Liverpool, that also features the return of is four-time world title challenger Martin Murray,  along with a battle between recent world champion Terry Flanagan and African champion Jonas Segu.

Olympic heroine Tasha Jonas and unbeaten super-lightweight Sam Maxwell are other big names on the bill with more local favourites in Ged Carroll, Johnny Quigley and Craig Glover looking to steal some limelight.
