Keyshawn Davis Pro Return Part Of Saturday Of Prospect Intrigue

Coming up tonight in New York one of the young U.S. Olympic rising stars will be back in a professional ring, as Keyshawn Davis will part of the Top Rank Boxing/ESPN card.

Davis, who has already posted three victories as a pro, is just one of the interesting fighters who will be in action on Saturday all over the country and even in Europe, etc.

When last we saw Davis it was in the year delayed 2021 Tokyo Olympics. He ended up by making the gold medal match and  fighting his nemesis Andy Cruz of Cuba. This, while going for the first U.S. Gold in the Lightweight division, since Oscar De La Hoya in the 1992 Barcelona Games. The Cuban had beaten the 22 year old Davis in all three of their previous fights, including the 2019 World Championships.

Cruz went on to score the decision win, but Davis still walked away from Japan as a Silver Medalist.

This came after Davis had turned pro earlier in 2021 and won three fights, But, he was allowed back into the Olympic amateur competition for the delayed Tokyo Olympics, because he had qualified for the USA boxing team.

But now, the Virginia native is back to capitalize on the Olympic accomplishment and fame taking on Jose Zaragoza in a scheduled six rounder. On that same card, unbeaten rising Heavyweight  Jared “Real Big Baby” Anderson, known for his big punching, is also in action in a scheduled eight rounder against Ukrainian born Oleksandr Teslenko. An Anderson victory will keep him on the path towards bigger fights and more.

In England, unbeaten, popular Welterweight Conor Benn will step into a Liverpool ring to headline for Matchroom Boxing and fight yet another veteran in American Chris Algieri. Benn has already notched wins over Sebastian Formella, Sammy Vargas and Adrian Granados over the last 12 months. And, he looks to be impressive, again, hoping to secure a possible 2022 world title shot.

Still, for the 25 year old Benn, it will be a challenge to get that title fight, as the Welterweight division is primarily controlled by Premier Boxing Champions and their top fighters.

Back stateside, is another interesting bout will be in Carson, CA, as unbeaten (but largely untested) Brandun Lee will put his perfect Jr. Welterweight record on the line against veteran Juan Heraldez in a scheduled 10 rounder. The 22 year old Lee has 21 KOs in his 23 wins, and we’ll see if he can score another spectacular win on a Showtime Boxing undercard.

It will be a busy day and night of bouts for a slew of unbeaten, up and coming fighters.

And, Keyshawn Davis will want to keep up with the rest.
