Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas By Numbers

The anticipation in Las Vegas and for fight fans is building, as eight division World Champ Manny Pacquiao is set to return from his two year hiatus to battle WBA “Super” World Welterweight title holder, Yordenis Ugas.

So, we’ve decided to give some numerical breakdown to Saturday night’s PPV fight from the T-Mobile Arena on the Vegas strip.

42-8-21- That’s the age in years, months and days for Pacquiao (he’ll be 43 in December), making him one of the oldest headliners for any boxing PPV ever.

25- The number of months that Pacquiao has been out of action, since his thrilling split-decision upset of previously unbeaten Keith Thurman in July of 2019 to capture the WBA World Welterweight title. That is by far the longest layoff of “Pac-man’s” career, besting the 12 months between his loss to Jeff Horn in July of 2017 and fighting Lucas Matthysse in July of the following year.

11 of 12-  The number of wins over the past seven years for the current WBA champ, Ugas. The lone loss was for the vacant WBC 147 lb. title to Shawn Porter in March of 2019.

9 of 10- The number of Manny Pacquiao fights that have gone the distance, since Juan Manuel Marquez knocked Pacquiao out cold in December of 2012. Pacquiao’s only fight to not go 12 rounds was the stoppage of Matthysse three years ago.

10.5- The Las Vegas “Over/Under” on the number of rounds Pacquiao vs. Ugas will go Saturday night. It’s currently listed a -225 or 1 to 2.25 on the betting line that the bout will go to an 11th round or probably, decision.

Speaking of the Odds, according to Sports Betting Dime, Pacquiao is a heavy -430 favorite to win over Yordenis Ugas (+300). Manny’s odds to win have increased, since earlier this week where some sportsbooks had him as low as -360.

20,000- The official capacity listed for boxing at the T-Mobile Arena. However, it’s believed that several thousands will be empty/unsold, especially after Errol Spence had to withdraw from the bout 10 days ago with his eye injury.

And also, the state of Nevada has re-instituted a mask mandate due to Covid 19 re-surging numbers for all indoor gatherings for the rest of August. That includes those attending the Pacquiao-Ugas card.

$74.95- The suggested pay per view price still for Pacquiao-Ugas. It is believed that the bout will have somewhere between 500-600,000 purchases due to Pacquiao’s popularity and long awaited return.

Still, Ugas isn’t a draw-he’s a late, credible replacement and PBC/Fox Sports are going to take a significant financial hit of not having the popular, unbeaten champ Spence and his fans to pour in and buy PPVs.

1- the number of prominent fight cards that will be going on world-wide Saturday night. So, in that regard, Pacquiao-Ugas has a chance to really stand out, especially if it’s an entertaining fight.
