German Kabayel offered Tyson Fury fight for December 5th

WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury continues to press ahead with his intent to fight someone other than former champion Deontay Wilder in December. And, news comes Monday that it maybe an unbeaten Kurdish-German Heavyweight that gets the shot.

Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren, who co-promotes Fury along with Top Rank Boxing, told British broadcast outlet Talksport Monday morning that unbeaten Kurdish-German contender, Agit Kabayel, is the choice for December 5th in England

“We’re giving the guy we wanna fight, which is Kabayel, we’re giving him 24 hours now to sign the contract or we’re gonna move on,” Warren said to Talk Sport Monday.

“He’s undefeated and has a win on his record over Derek Chisora. He [was] the European champion and he’s ranked by the WBC. That’s who’s sitting at the moment on a contract and we’re waiting.

“He’s got about 24 hours now to make his mind up to sign it and send it back or we’ll move on. He’s the fight, subject to the contract being signed.”

Kabayel, 20-0, 13 KOs, was most recently in action in Maddenburg, Germany, in July when he decisioned a little known Greek opponent over 10 rounds. He’s also ranked in the top 10 by the WBA.

Meanwhile, controversy still continues over weather Fury has the right to walk away from the third fight with Wilder? Fury regained a portion of the Heavyweight championship by stopping Wilder on a 7th round TKO in Las Vegas in February. However, both fighters had agreed to a rematch clause for their next fight.

Then, the Covid-19 pandemic shut the sport down for over 90 days delaying Wilder Fury from happening in July. This was in part, because all parties involved wanted to try to have a live gate with fans present later in the year.

Now apparently, the sides cannot agree on a December fight date that also corresponds with ESPN and Fox Sports being able to produce and televise the Pay-per-View in the United States.

So, Fury’s camp has decided to move on from fighting Wilder, because they say the contractually mandated rematch clause expires on December 31st of this year. And, if Wilder was unwilling to make the to make the fight for December, that they will instead move on and fight someone else to “stay busy.”

And, that’s where Kabayel comes in.

For his part, Wilder broke his long silence for the first time on social media Saturday about whether Fury should honor the rematch clause and give him the chance to regain his title?

But as we wrote, he went far beyond just demanding the rematch but straight to an accusing theory of having loaded his gloves with “an egg weight” to injure him in their February fight.

Fury has yet to respond publicly to Wilder’s wild accusations or to whether or not he should honor the deal, if Wilder wants to fight him?

One maneuver that has been brought up is: that Wilder and his advisor Shelly Finkel and promoter Premier Boxing Champions could go directly to the World boxing Council to demand that if Fury does not honor the rematch clause, the WBC could potentially strip him of their belt. Under this move, they would want the WBC to order someone else to fight Wilder for the vacant title.

It is unlikely that the WBC would do that, as they would ultimately want a Fury – Wilder fight to happen for their title or be part of a proposed Fury – Anthony Joshua Undisputed heavyweight title fight at some point in 2021.
