Kash Ali suspended, fined for bite on Price
Heavyweight boxer Kash Ali was finally made aware of his punishment Monday in which he was given a six-month suspension by the British Boxing Board of Control for his bite of David Price in their match from March 30.
The incident happened in the fifth round of their contest on the Liam Smith-Sam Eggington fight card which had got him disqualified from the match. The 27-year-old boxer from Birmingham was escorted from the ring under security protection as drinks were thrown from the crowd, following his disqualification by referee Mark Lyson.
In addition to the suspension, he was fined by the board £10,000 as well as having his purse withheld from the fight which was estimated to be around £20,000.
His trainer Adam Etches told Sky Sports News in an interview on Monday:
“He’s got off lightly, but at the same time, he’s not a bad guy. He lost his head.”
“He’s got to serve his time and he’ll be straight back in, and back to winning ways.”
“The fight ended badly, but he had given a good account of himself, apart from the daftness of biting him.”
“Other than that, he was doing alright in the fight. As long as he learns from it, he will be fine.”

Price (15-1, 7 KOs) originally issued a statement after the fight had happened and said:
“I would like to apologize for my unacceptable behavior in my fight against David Price.”
“I am sorry to all boxing fans, to my team, my family, the British Boxing Board, David Price, his team, and his family.”
“I am hugely embarrassed for my actions and the way the whole fight unfolded.”
“The occasion got the better of me and those who know me, including David, can testify that my behavior on Saturday during the fight was not a true reflection of who I am.”
