Judah, Seldin face off International Hall of Fame weekend

In a press release Monday afternoon, Star Boxing, in conjunction with Turning Stone Resort Casino, announced Zab “Super” Judah will take on Cletus “Hebrew Hammer” Seldin. The fight will be the main event at the Turning Stone Event Center on Friday, June 7, 2019, as part of the 30th Anniversary of Boxing Hall of Fame Weekend.

The evening’s co-main on the card will have James “Buddy” McGirt Jr. squaring off against David Papot the same weekend his father James “Buddy” McGirt Sr. will be inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame.

Judah (44-9, 30 KOs), is a six-time world champion, and the last undisputed welterweight champion of the world. Making his professional debut at the age of 18, The three-time New York Golden Glove champion began holding world titles in three weight classes, finished off by with an undisputed welterweight reign in 2005. Judah in his career has beaten some of the most notable names in the boxing scene, such as Micky Ward, Lucas Matthysse and Cory Spinks for the undisputed Welterweight title. Spinks, 41, has been active as of late since a 3-year absence from the ring when he lost to Paulie Malignaggi in 2013. He last was in action in January of 2018 in Calgary, Alberta against Noel Mejia Rincon, where he won by unanimous decision.

Seldin (23-1, 19 KOs). won the Ringside Amateur World Championship back in 2009. Through his boxing career, Seldin is known throughout the New York area as a knockout artist from his bouts at the Paramount Theatre where he is undefeated. He broke on to the national scene when he knocked out Roberto Ortiz at the Nassau Coliseum on HBO Boxing in 2017. In his last fight, he made short work of Adam Mate knocking him out in the first round back in January of this year.

McGirt Jr. (27-3-1, 14KO’s) will look to pay homage to his father, James McGirt Sr. who is being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame during the same weekend, when he takes on David Papot (22-0, 3KO’s). McGirt racked up an amateur record of 44-4 winning the Sunshine State Games and the Southeastern Regional. As a professional McGirt has found success and has faced some well-regarded fighters in his division, including, Carlos De Leon Jr., and Raymond Joval. He has been sparsely active since his loss to Edwin Rodriguez back in 2010 but has won 5 straight since returning to action back in 2014.

Papot coming across the Atlantic Ocean from France had 102 amateur bouts, 30 of which were with the French National team, earning French National Champion honors two times. In 2017 Papot earned the WBA Continental Middleweight Title, and later that year became the French National Super Welterweight Champion, has since defended the title three times..
