Wach and Culcay headline European shows Friday night

For the first time since the Covid-19 and shut down in March, boxing in Europe will be back in action Friday night, albeit without fans, with two fight cards in Poland and Germany. That’s when veteran heavyweight Mariusz Wach (above) will headline in his native Poland and former Junior Middleweight Championship contender Jack Caulkay will fight in his adopted country of Germany in that main event.

First, the 40 year-old Wach, 35 – 6, 6 KOs is the draw for the studo show in Konary, Poland . He will fight American journeyman Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson 34 – 16 – 1, 18 KOs in the 10-round main event.

Wach was last in the ring in December when he lost a lopsided decision to Britain’s Dillian Whyte on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua-Andy Ruiz rematch in Saudi Arabia. Wach comes into this fight having lost four of his last six bouts, including two more of them to fellow Pole, Artur Szpilka and American, Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller.

As for the American opponent “Kingpin” Johnson, he has previously been in the ring and lost decisions to the likes of Ruiz in 2018 and Kubrat Pulev in 2017. He was also previously stopped in just two rounds by Joshua during his early career rise in 2015.

Wach is heavily favored to win this bout, which will be available through the promoter Agon Sports and Youtube behind a paywall.

As for Culcay, he will fight in a 12-round Junior Middleweight fight in Berlin at the Havelstudios for German “Blid TV” and without fans also.

Culcay is 27 – 4, 13 KOs and was last in action in November, when he decisioned Jama Saidi to win the WBO Regional 154 lb. title. He will be defending that title tonight against Frenchman, Howard Cospolite.

Caulcay who is primarily fought most of his pro career in his adopted country of Germany, did lose a decision to middleweight contender for Sergei Derevyanchenko in Minnesota in April of last year. He also previously unsuccessfully challenged Demetrius Andrade, losing a narrow split decision for the WBA Jr. Middleweight title in March of 2017.

Like Wach, Culcay is heavily favored in the main event over Cospolite, who is 18 – 7 – 3 and  has primarily fought in France against little-known competition in his career.
