Cherneka Johnson vs. Dina Thorslund fight recap

Dina Thorslund (25-0, 9 KOs) added to her accolades with a unanimous decision win against Cherneka Johnson (19-3, 8 KOs).

Scores for their clash were 100-90 across the board. Thorslund is now the undisputed bantamweight world champion with the victory. This was her thirteenth world title win overall.

Johnson began the fight on the back foot. Thorslund pursued her around the ring and was able to land from a distance. The Dane landed fast combinations against an opponent who appeared reluctant to let her hands go early on.

Johnson started to punch with Thorslund in round four. The challenger often had her hands down, especially after landing a combination. Punching with Thorslund allowed Johnson to finally land some shots of significance. However, the reigning champion was still being outpunched by her opponent. Thorslund’s herky-jerky style made her hard to hit and allowed her to land punches from odd angles.

Despite Johnson’s best efforts, she was unable to get the upper hand. She had a slow start and struggled with the volume of shots coming her way. Thorslund had the quicker hands and won each round by being busier. It helped her become the boxing’s newest undisputed world champion.

Desley Robinson vs. Tamm Thibeault fight recap

Tamm Thibeault (5-0, 3 KOs) was simply too much for Desley Robinson (12-4, 4 KOs), winning a unanimous decision.

Scores for their bout were 100-90 across the board. Thibeault is now the WBO and IBF middleweight world champion with the win. This was her first attempt at challenging for a world title.

Thibeault had a very strong opening round, keeping her opponent at bay with her longer reach. At one point, she trapped Robinson in a corner of the ring and unleashed a barrage of punches. The Australian was able to stay on her feet, but Thibeault had clearly established herself as the better fighter of the two.

The Canadian continued to find success from range as the fight progressed. Blood poured from the nose of Robinson as a result of the many straight punches she got hit with. Although she found some success closing the distance in round six, Thibeault was still doing the cleaner work.

An accidental clash of heads in round seven caused blood to pour from the challenger’s nose and a pause in the action. Thibeault carried on fighting, but now had to deal with frequent clinching. Robinson was able to land the occasional power punch, but not enough to win her rounds. It came as no surprise that Thibeault had her hand raised as the victor in the end.

Amanda Galle (13-1-1, 1 KO) won a unanimous decision against Shurretta Metcalf (15-6-1, 2 KOs, 1 NC). Scores for their eight-round super flyweight fight were 80-72 (x2) and 78-74.

Opening the broadcast on ESPN, Krystal Rosado (10-1, 2 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Alondra Hernandez (11-3, 2 KOs). Scores for their eight-round bantamweight contest were 80-72 across the board.

On a portion of the undercard that was broadcast on YouTube, Jan Paul Rivera (16-0, 7 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Ruben Garcia (25-8-2, 11 KOs). Scores for this eight-round 132-lb catchweight clash were 80-72 and 79-73 (x2).

Dainier Peró (14-0, 11 KOs) won via third round technical knockout against Aleem Whitfield (10-2, 6 KOs). The official time of stoppage for this 10-round heavyweight bout was 2:20. Whitfield was stopped standing after getting hit with several clean punches without defending himself.

Sa’Rai Brown-El (2-0, 0 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Sheyla Moreno (5-1-1, 0 KOs). Scores for their six-round light flyweight fight were 60-53, 59-54 and 58-55. Moreno was deducted a point in the fifth for repeatedly leading with the head.

Angelo Hernandez (2-0, 1 KO) won a unanimous decision against Jose Fernandez (2-2, 2 KOs). Scores for their four-round featherweight contest were 40-36 and 39-37 (x2).

Sebastian Juarez (12-0, 8 KOs) won a unanimous decision against Rance Ward (9-7-1, 2 KOs). Scores for their six-round middleweight clash were 60-54 across the board.

Opening the broadcast on YouTube, Jadden Addison (3-0, 2 KOs) won via first round technical knockout against Dionne Ruvalcaba (2-3, 1 KO). The official time of stoppage for this four-round lightweight bout was 2:27. Ruvalcaba was dropped by a left hand upstairs. Although he got up, the fight soon came to an end with him still standing after being hit with a chopping left hand to the head.
