Anthony Joshua vs. Kristian Prenga press conference quotes and fight prediction

Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) will soon take on Kristian Prenga (20-1, 20 KOs) in a 12-round heavyweight bout.

The July 25 event will take place at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live as a pay-per-view (PPV) on DAZN. Note: The Joshua vs. Prenga fight card is part of Jeddah Season, a state-funded entertainment festival. The Saudi Arabian government is responsible for its organization.

Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their clash. Below is some of what they had to say.

“Very dangerous,” said Joshua of his opponent. “Very good fighter. Very dangerous fighter. Yes, I believe it. I know it. I’ve studied it and I’m ready for it. I’ve been in the ring with some of the quickest heavyweights, some of the fittest heavyweights. I’ve fought some of the strongest heavyweights. I’ve fought contenders, I’ve fought champions, I’ve been knocked down, I’ve been knocked out. I stand strong today. I’m ready for the challenge one million per cent…”

“As we know, [Prenga] knows as well, God is the best planner. Who knows what will happen. Fate’s already written, but we wish him well. Honestly, there’s no hard feelings. It’s just two solid, competitive people that want to come together and put on a great show for everyone around the world and everyone in attendance. There’s no hard feelings, no jealousy, no envy. I just want to win. I’m motivated, I’m passionate, and I just want to show to myself how good I am. This is a chance for me to prove that all the training that my team’s put in is paying off…”

“Every boxer has [their] weaknesses and [their] faults in the ring,” said Prenga through an interpreter. “No matter who you are. I’ve seen everything. I’ve said it before, I respect Anthony Joshua very much. I grew up watching all his fights. I’ve seen his weakness. I’ve seen what he does best. On Saturday night, I will show exactly what I’ve paid attention to.”

“I’m just going to say it short,” said Prenga in English. “[Victory by] knockout.”

Fight prediction

From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: When AJ uses his jab, he produces his best work off that. His power is obvious, and we have all seen how devastating his power can be. Joshua also showed his adaptability and discipline in his rematch against Andy Ruiz, where he stayed behind his jab and controlled the distance and tempo for the entirety of the fight.

Prenga’s record shows he carries power, but he is vulnerable to counters, and it’s difficult to not see AJ making him miss before landing a huge right hand. We are backing Joshua to win early, by second-round TKO.
