Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga: Anthony Joshua at press conference before Jake Paul fight

On July 25, at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia, Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga will headline a Ring Magazine fight card. Should AJ win, it’s expected he will finally face Tyson Fury, who is rumoured to be fighting on August 1. Ahead of Joshua’s comeback, British heavyweight Dave Allen, speaking on the Fight Your Corner podcast, revealed his prediction for the bout.

Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) was last seen in action against Jake Paul. After that win, Joshua was involved in a devastating car crash in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of his two close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. AJ was rescued from the vehicle, injured. It remains to be seen just how much of the old Joshua remains, and if he still has the ambition to fight at the top of the heavyweight division once again.

Prenga (20-1, 20 KOs) has power; that much is obvious when you look at his record. His most recognisable win came against Joey Dawejko. Prenga is vulnerable to counters, and Joshua will look to punch in between Prenga’s work. It’s difficult not to see the Albanian walking onto a huge right hand from AJ.

Dave Allen reveals his prediction for Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga

When asked by Tony Bellew for his thoughts on the Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga fight, Allen said:

“I think it’s probably a safe match for Joshua. A training camp is what he needs more than the fight. He’s got a lot of experience. I don’t think he necessarily needs more fights, but I think Joshua wins inside two.”

Bellew added: “I agree, I think this fight’s going to be over pretty quickly and pretty brutally. Prenga, while he can punch, I don’t think he has very much going forward. He’s going to be going backwards, and I just think AJ lands pretty quickly and it ends even quicker.”
