When speaking at the launch press conference for his July 25 fight with Kristian Prenga, Joshua spoke about the improvements he’s made since joining Oleksandr Usyk:
“Fitness. Not just fitness for running, but boxing fitness. IQ. When I say that, I mean like defence. I understand it. I can really read punches again. My eyes are fully locked in, and just my focus. I can just see it again. I can see the punches. I can read the opponent really well. I’m gonna respect everything when it comes to boxing, and really give my respect to my opponent and his team.”
Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga: Hearn identifies what AJ must do on July 25
Looking ahead to Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga, Hearn was honest about what Joshua needs to do:
“By the way, he must knock out Prenga. He must look good. We’re not looking to scrap past this guy. This guy is dangerous. He’s going to come to fight, but we should be knocking him out, and if he can do that and look great, and then the momentum going into the Tyson Fury fight is exactly what we need.”
When asked about Prenga’s record, Hearn said: “We know because of everything we hear over the years, that he can fight. Is he a world-class fighter? We’ll find out on July 25. You can’t just say that because he’s never fought a world-class, elite guy that he’s not a world-class fighter. What he is is very heavy-handed, very dangerous, and he has a dream, and he has ambition in this fight to go in there and knock Anthony Joshua out and change his life forever.”
