Edwin De Los Santos vs. José Valenzuela fight recap
José Valenzuela (16-3, 10 KOs) avenged his loss to Edwin De Los Santos (17-3, 15 KOs) by second round knockout.
The official time of stoppage was 2:05. This was Valenzuela’s second win at lightweight after moving down from 140 lbs. The first meeting between the pair took place in 2022. De Los Santos won that bout by third round knockout.
De Los Santos landed the first shot of significance, but Valenzuela was landing hard shots of his own by the end of the opening round. The pair continued to exchange power punches going into the second. Eventually, Valenzuela landed a right hook upstairs that sent his opponent to the canvas. He also landed a left uppercut while De Los Santos was down, but this had no bearing on the final result. The Dominican was unable to rise to his feet and was counted out by referee Thomas Taylor, giving Valenzuela the knockout win.
