Fight prediction
From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: Valenzuela provides a complex puzzle for any opponent, mainly due to his awkward southpaw style. His hand speed is quick, and he carries enough power to slow down an opponent. Against Isaac Cruz, he showed his quality at catching aggressive fighters when they come in to close the distance.
De Los Santos carries plenty of power. He’s also adept at generating effective combinations up close. De Los Santos is a talented counterpuncher, but he will need to draw Valenzuela out.
Valenzuela will be eager to navigate through the opening few rounds and drag the heavy-handed Dominican into the later rounds, where he is known to become frustrated, and his work becomes sloppy. We are backing Valenzuela to do just that, and move well and pick his punches impressively on the way to a competitive unanimous decision win.
