Errol Spence Jr and Tim Tszyu face off at launch press conference

On July 25 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu headlines a Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view event on Prime Video. This will be Spence’s first fight since his stoppage loss to Terence Crawford in 2023. Many questions remain over what the former unified welterweight and pound-for-pound great Spence has left. Questions also hang over Tszyu’s head following defeats in recent years. Ahead of their Australian showdown, Spence’s trainer Ronnie Shields spoke to Fight Hub TV, warning anyone who doubts his fighter will be proven wrong.

Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu set for July 25 showdown

Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) was comprehensively beaten by Terence Crawford, but before that defeat, the New York native recorded elite victories against Kell Brook, Shawn Porter and Mikey Garcia, among others.

Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) was undefeated before a bloody defeat against Sebastian Fundora, and further losses against Fundora (rematch) and Bakhram Murtazaliev have prompted the Aussie fighter to seek a new trainer, with Jeff Fenech taking the reins.

This 158lbs catchweight showdown feels like a winner-takes-all type of fight.

Ronnie Shields fires warning ahead of Spence Jr vs Tszyu

Ahead of Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu, Spence’s trainer Ronnie Shields was full of confidence regarding his fighter’s ability and chances on July 25:

“Well, everybody’s right who says he’s not gonna be the same; he’s gonna be better. So much better than he ever was. His body’s well rested. He feels really good. Everything is going great. As you saw today, his punches are fluid. He’s strong, and he’s throwing punches the way I think he should throw them.

“And defence is looking good. So, everything is going great, and everybody that’s thinking he doesn’t have anything left, just wait.”
