Catterall Earns Second Victory Since Josh Taylor Defeat
Since his controversial defeat to Josh Taylor, the Chorley-born fighter has joined Matchroom Boxing and defeated Darragh Foley and now Linares. The Venezuelan fighter has fought some of the best opponents in his career, but Catterall was dominant throughout. He boxed diligently from the start, getting behind a stiff jab while showcasing his impressive movement. Through the early rounds, Catterall remained in control behind the jab while landing with his left hand at will and slipping Linares counter-punching effectively.
As we reached the middle rounds, “El Gato” stepped up the pace and was first to the punch almost every time. His ability to control the distance throughout was exceptional, making Linares miss consistently. During the last round, it was an opportunity to appreciate what a professional performance this was from Catterall as he cruised to victory.
The judge’s scorecards read 117-111 and 116-112×2, making it a successful night for “El Gato.”
