William Zepeda Ready To Headline For Golden Boy

Coming up tonight in Arlington, TX, Golden Boy Promotions has made best of having their original main event postponed by putting unbeaten, hard hitting lightweight William “El Camarón” Zepeda (27-0, 23 KOs) out front in their feature fight.

The Mexican Zepeda, who’s ranked 3rd at 135 lb. by the WBA and 5th by the WBA will take on former world title challenger Jaime “Jaimito” Arboleda (19-2, 14 KOs) of Panama in the show to be streamed on DAZN from University of Texas- Arlington campus,

This lightweight clash was elevated to the main event once Vergil Ortiz Jr. was forced to pull out of his fight with top WBA welterweight contender Eimantas Stanionis due to a recurrence of his blood disorder that sidelined Ortiz in early 2022.

Zepeda Confident

At Thursday’s final press conference Zepeda made clear that he’s ready to step in and deliver a big showing with his opportunity,

“This is my second time as the main event in my career, the first time in the red corner, and I am so excited and have prepared well for this moment,” Zepeda said to the media.

“I trained hard for this fight, and I am coming with everything come Saturday night. I want to thank my Mexican fan base and I promise to give the fans a very exciting fight.”

“I dedicate this fight to Vergil Ortiz, Jr.; I hope and wish him a speedy recovery and I hope to see him in the ring soon.”
