Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk Undisputed Showdown: Frank Warren Warns of Targeting Fury’s Vulnerability, Predicts Exciting Fight

On Saturday, May 18, Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) will collide for the unified WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF titles on TNT Sports Box Office, Sky Sports Box Office and DAZN PPV. The original fight date of February 17 was postponed due to a cut sustained by “The Gypsy King” in training. The cut was near the same eye as the one he injured in the fight against Otto Wallin. Turki Alalshikh quickly addressed the postponement, announcing the new fight date in May at the Kingdom Arena, Riyadh. Ahead of the mammoth bout next month, Frank Warren has spoken about the injury and how he believes the main event of “Ring of Fire” will go.

Frank Warren Talks Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Undisputed and Injury

With Fury and Usyk set to clash on May 18, Queensberry Promotions owner Warren has given his thoughts to Sky Sports regarding the upcoming clash in Saudi Arabia, and how he expects Usyk to approach the bout. At Big Fight Weekend, we have recently examined the weight and height advantage of “The Gypsy King.”

Regarding Usyk targeting the cut, Warren said: “Well, I would.” He continued: “Of course he will [try to do that].” Warren the co-promoter of Fury, doesn’t believe any cut can derail Fury. “He had a worse cut against [Otto] Wallin,” the promoter pointed out. “Tyson had a dreadful cut in that fight and won the fight convincingly with a bad cut, a real bad cut.”

The Queensberry Promoter also spoke on any worries regarding Fury’s desire ahead of this much-anticipated bout: “He’s got plan A, plan B and a plan C and more important, he’s got a big heart.” Speaking on his fighter’s ability to exploit opponent’s weaknesses: “One thing about Tyson, if he senses a crack or sees any weakness, he’s the biggest exploiter of it and that’s why it’s going to be such an exciting fight,” Warren said.

The last time Fury was seen in the ring, he barely got by Francis Ngannou, and Warren spoke on a potential confidence boost for the Ukrainian: “On the other hand, Usyk might feel from the Ngannou fight there are some things that he can exploit and I’m sure he will. He’s a competitor.

“He’s a competitor from amateur days right up until the present day. He’s done everything that’s been asked of him.”

Achilles Heel

Warren also discussed how Fury can defeat Usyk and be crowned the undisputed heavyweight champion:  “His Achilles’ heel, as I’ve said, and I’m surprised the so-called experts never picked up on it, has always been his body. Daniel Dubois, that’s what he was trained for, to go and exploit that and he nearly pulled it off.”
