Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jr: Teddy Atlas Predicts the Winner
On February 15 at the Co-op Live in Manchester, Jack Catterall (30-1, 13 KOs) and Arnold Barboza Jr. (31-0, 11 KOs) will clash for the WBO interim super lightweight title. The bout headlines a Matchroom Boxing card, done in association with Golden Boy Promotions, with fight fans around the world able to catch the action on DAZN. As we build up to this intriguing clash, the legendary trainer Teddy Atlas has broken down the fight on his YouTube channel and revealed his prediction.
Both fighters will be looking for victory in Manchester and hopefully move onto a world title shot against Teofimo Lopez or be elevated to full champion should Lopez move in a different direction.
Ahead of fight night, Atlas has broken down the main event: “Well, Catterall makes his living counter-punching. That’s what he does. I mean, he’s always done that. You know? He doesn’t rent space out in that area. He owns that area,” Atlas said.
“He’s a counter-puncher, pure and simple and, so it’ll be a battle of two counter-punchers if that happens. I go with the guy who knows what he is, Catterall knows he’s a counterpuncher. He’s going to stay, he’s going to live or die with that.”
Predicting the fight, Atlas said: “I’m going to go with the guy who knows what he is, and always has been that. The counterpuncher to win a counterpunching fight.”
Atlas continued: “Catterall will win the battle of counterpunching because he’s been a counterpuncher longer and he’s home.”
