Five Heavyweight Fighters to Watch in 2025

The heavyweight boxing division has continued to produce brilliant fighters, with established names making waves and new names emerging. Looking ahead to 2025, Big Fight Weekend brings you five heavyweight boxers to watch in the coming year.

Heavyweight Boxing: Top Fighters to Watch in 2025

Heavyweight Boxing: Dainier Pero

Dainier “The Fear” Pero (10-0, 8 KOs) has enjoyed an impressive 2024, winning all five contests by KO. the Most Valuable Promotions fighter is fast making a name for himself in the premier boxing division. Renowned trainer Bob Santos has recently lavished praise on the Cuban: “His power, athleticism, and high ring IQ make him stand out from everyone else in the division. He moves with the precision and agility of a young Usyk, showcasing exceptional footwork, impressive ring generalship, and true explosive power. Being named 2024 Prospect of the Year would be a well-deserved recognition of the hard work and dedication he’s put into his craft.”

Justis Huni

Justis Huni (11-0, 6 KOs) is an undefeated heavyweight who is nimble and fast with his hands. His fight with Kevin Lerena raised serious questions about his defence, as he was rocked on more than one occasion. Since that tough win, Huni has won two fights by TKO and will return to action on January 8 against Shaun Potgieter. “JPH” needs a big 2025 to make a serious splash in the division.

Moses Itauma

What is there to say about Moses Itauma (11-0, 9 KOs) that hasn’t already been said? With speed and power aplenty, this 20-year-old has destroyed all opponents thus far in impressive fashion. His last two wins have catapulted him onto a new level in time for 2025. He destroyed Mariusz Wach in two rounds before his most recent one-round demolition job of Demsey McKean. Could we possibly see a 2025 world title chance for this prodigious talent?

Richard Torrez Jr.

Richard Torrez Jr. (12-0, 11 KOs) has adapted well to the pro ranks, staying active and moving through opponents with ease. He throws his shots with power and targets the head and body of his opponents. Torrez feints effectively, before letting his shots go, keeping his opponents guessing. 2025 looks primed to be a big year for the Tulare native.

Teremoana Teremoana

Recent Matchroom Boxing recruit Teremoana Teremoana (5-0, 5 KOs) made his promotional debut on the December 14 card in Monte Carlo and showed why many are talking about this 198cm Australian. That fight against Volodymyr Katsuk saw the Aussie win by first-round TKO. Teremoana never let his opponent breathe and bombarded him with a barrage of punches, which resulted in three knockdowns. The 26-year-old should have plenty of opportunities under the Matchroom banner, and this fan-friendly fighter looks ready for a big 2025.
