David Benavidez vs. David Morrell Jr.: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction
David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) and David Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) will soon clash in a highly anticipated light heavyweight contest.
Their fight headlines a Premier Boxing Champions card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Boxing fans can catch the action as a pay-per-view with either Prime Video, PPV.com or TrillerTV (Note: availability of the pay-per-view on each platform is dependent on location).
Ahead of their bout on February 1, both men spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.
David Benavidez vs. David Morrell Jr. Press Conference Quotes
David Benavidez
“What can I say, man, we’re finally here,” said Benavidez. “I’m very excited for this moment. I’ve been getting ready extremely hard [sic] for this moment. I’ve trained extremely hard and now we’re ready. Now we’re coming with all our full energy. Not like this fucking pussy right here [gestures to Morrell].”
“Peace and love? What’s all that fucking shit you were talking about back then. Now this guy’s nervous. I’m gonna beat the fuck out of you and I hope you have no fucking excuses ’cause you look scared as fuck right now, to be honest. You can smile, you can do all the fuck you want. But watch, when you step inside the ring this Saturday, that’s ‘El Monstro’s’ world, and you’re going to see exactly what the fuck I’m made of.”
“I’m going in there to try to hurt him in every single round. I have the strongest fighting spirit in all of boxing and you’re going to see what ‘El Monstro’ is made of on Saturday.”
David Morrell Jr.
“Saturday, February 1, it’s going to be a spectacle,” said Morrell through an interpreter. “And I promise you that you’re gonna see the best of me out there. You’re not gonna want to miss it this Saturday night.”
“The name ‘The Monster’ is nonsense. He talks a lot, but we’ll see what happens on Saturday night.”
“I wanted to fight Benavidez because I wanted to end all this ‘Monster’ stuff. Everyone he’s fought so far has either been on the verge of retirement or had to come up or come down in weight. I want to end the myth that he’s a monster.”
Fight Prediction
The two men clearly dislike each other, something that was evident by the number of times they argued with each other throughout the press conference. Both have recently moved to light heavyweight from super middleweight and it appears their power has not quite travelled up with them based on their last respective outings. Between the two, it is Benavidez who has fought the better opponents and prevailed each time. Expect him to do so once more via a unanimous decision.
