Christian Mbilli vs. Mark Heffron Headlines Canadian Fight Card

Mbilli and Heffron Both Ready

Mbilli holds high rankings with the sanctioning bodies at super middleweight and is soon due a world title shot. At present, Canelo holds all the titles in that weight class. While it is unknown when Mbilli will get his shot, he continues to stay active with his third fight in less than nine months.

Heffron’s a bruiser, I’m a bruiser, so it’s likely to go fast on Saturday, said Mbilli in French at a press conference Thursday. “Don’t blink!”

After losing via technical knockout to Jack Cullen in September last year, Heffron came back with a win in February. win would be significant, putting him in the rankings and much closer to a possible title shot. He is confident in being able to ruin Mbilli’s plans.

It’s a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to it,” Heffron said at the press conference. “I feel like I punch harder and my boxing ability is better than Christian’s.”

Fight Prediction

Mbilli is considered one of the best boxers fighting out of Canada. Top Rank signing a co-promotional pact with him and the fact that the fight will air on ESPN+ are a reflection of the confidence in Mbilli’s abilities. Heffron has plenty of experience, but the expectation is that “Solide” will just be too much for him. Expect a Mbilli win within six rounds.

Other Fighters to Look Out For

Arslanbek Makhmudov (18-1, 17 KOs) will look to return to the win column against Miljan Rovcanin (27-3, 18 KOs). Makhmudov lost via technical knockout to Agit Kabayel back in December. On the other hand, Rovcanin is 3-0 since getting stopped by Jared Anderson in August 2022.

Wilkens Mathieu (8-0, 5 KOs), Moreno Fendero (5-0, 4 KOs), and Jhon Orobio (8-0, 8 KOs) also fight on this card. All three have shown a lot of promise early in their careers and are worth keeping an eye out for.
