What’s Next for Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez After Stunning Win Against Juan Francisco Estrada
On Saturday, June 29, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (20-0, 13 KOs) produced a boxing master class to defeat the legendary Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada (44-4, 28 KOs) by seventh-round KO at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, live on DAZN. The victory for Bam gave him the WBC and Ring Magazine super flyweight titles. Following this stunning performance, attention now turns to what fight could come next for “Bam” Rodriguez.
Jesse Rodriguez Next Fight: What Could be Next for ‘Bam’
Winner of Kazuto Ioka vs. Fernando Martinez
Following the brilliant triumph over Estrada, “Bam” was asked in the post-fight interview what he wanted to happen next. While discussing an agreed rematch with “El Gallo,” Rodriguez said: “I want the winner of Ioka-Martinez.”

Ioka is the current WBA titlist, while Martinez has the IBF strap, with these two set to collide on July 7. If “Bam” is to fight the winner it will give the Texan a chance to hold three belts, with Kosei Tanaka’s WBO title as the missing puzzle piece for “Bam” to become the undisputed champion.
A Juan Francisco Estrada Rematch
“Bam” outboxed and stopped one of the greatest small-weight fighters – knocking him down twice and dictating the tempo. The Veteran Mexican had small moments of success in the fight with the flash knockdown of Rodriguez in the sixth round.
When asked if he wanted the rematch, “El Gallo” said: “I know the mistake I made in there and I want the rematch.” It seems likely the rematch clause will be triggered, meaning “Bam” will need to defeat Estrada for a second time before moving on to unified and undisputed fights.

If it’s the rematch next, I don’t think there will be too many complaints following the action-packed seven rounds we saw in Arizona – with the Texan fighter showing he is a pound-for-pound star.
