Title Fights From Around the World: Thammanoon Niyomtrong and Lani Daniels Retain
Today, boxing world title fights take place around the globe and are more accessible to watch than ever before. Sometimes, championship bouts do not receive as much attention and go underreported. Big Fight Weekend commits to writing about boxing news, previews, and recaps. As such, the site now has a recurring segment on championship bouts – from around the world from the past week.
The focus of these pieces will be on clashes ranging from atomweight to heavyweight that had the WBA, WBC, IBF, and/or WBO titles on the line. This edition of “Title Fights From Around the World” comprises two recaps. In Australia, a long-reigning world champion held on to his title. Over in New Zealand, a light heavyweight champion dominated her way to victory.

Thammanoon Niyomtrong Defeats Alex Winwood in Close Bout
Thammanoon Niyomtrong (25-0, 9 KOs) remains the WBA minimumweight champion with a majority decision win against Alex Winwood (4-1, 2 KOs).
While one judge had the bout 113-113, the other two saw it 114-112 for Niyomtrong. With the win, the Thai fighter retains a world title he has held since 2016. This was also his first fight in just over two years.
The title clash headlined a card promoted by Green Machine Boxing and Dragon Fire Boxing. It took place at the HBF Arena in Joondalup, Australia. Fight fans in Australia could catch the action on 7Plus. Those in the rest of the world could do so with True4U.

Winwood went down in round seven from a left hook. At the time, it appeared that the fight would soon come to an end as the Australian was on shaky legs. He somehow made it out of the round. Niyomtrong would knock his opponent down again in the ninth with a right. In the end, it was these knockdowns that helped him get the win on two of the scorecards.
Lani Daniels Dominates Bolatito Oluwole
Lani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO) made a successful first defence of her IBF light heavyweight title against Bolatito Oluwole (9-1, 5 KOs).
Scores were 100-90, 98-92 and 97-93 in favour of Daniels, who won via unanimous decision. With the victory, she retains the title she had won against Desley Robinson last December. Daniels was also the IBF heavyweight champion prior tothat.
The fight headlined an Ironfist Promotions card at the Globox Arena in Hamilton, New Zealand. Boxing fans around the world could catch the action live on the Ironfist Promotions YouTube channel.
The fight began with Daniels fighting off of the backfoot and making her opponent pursue her around the ring. However, as the bout progressed it was the reigning champion who became the aggressor. Oluwole was consistently hit with the left hook and overhand right but had moments of success with her power shots. In the end, it was Daniels’ aggression and work rate that allowed her to win rounds on the judge’s scorecards and retain her world title.
