Matias Speaks to Rivals

Matias has today taken to his Instagram Reels to call out some of his super lightweight rivals. The Puerto Rican fighter enjoyed a successful 2023, defeating Jeremias Ponce after overcoming a tough start in that fight. He rounded off the year in style by beating the previously undefeated Shohjahon Ergashev by sixth-round TKO.

Following these defeats, Matias seems keen to face some of the division’s stars and says: “Best 140 is here. No Teofimo, pussy. No Ryan, who is Ryan? He goes on to also call out Devin Haney and Rolando Romero.

At the end of the video, Matias addresses all his divisional rivals and asks: “I’m here. Who’s going to fight with me?

Matias Career Recapped

The Dominican fighter has enjoyed an impressive rise through the professional ranks, showcasing his bravery and heavy hands. He showed in defeating Ponce how effective he is at cutting off the ring and taking heavy shots himself before delivering his own bombs. Matias is not afraid to take a shot, and his chin has proven to be made of granite thus far.

His only defeat came against Petros Ananyan by a unanimous decision in 2020. He regrouped and got his revenge on January 22, 2022, forcing his opponent to retire at the end of the tenth round after knocking him down in the previous round.

Subriel Matias is a problem for anyone at 140lbs – and he seems ready to fight anyone.
