Raymond Muratalla Reveals Who He Wants to Fight Next Following Tevin Farmer Win

Raymond Muratalla (21-0, 16 KOs) remains on course for a world title shot after defeating Tevin Farmer (33-6-1, 8 KOs, 1 NC) by unanimous decision (97-92, 96-93 and 95-94) on Saturday, July 13, at the Palms Casino and Resort’s Pearl Theater in Las Vegas, NV, as the main event on a Top Rank card. Muratalla-Farmer was the new main event following the hospitalization of Janibek Alimkhanuly due to dehydration on July 11, which saw his WBO and IBF middleweight title defence against Andrei Mikhailovich cancelled. In the post-fight interview, “danger” revealed who he wants to fight next.

‘Danger’ Defeats Tevin Farmer

Muratalla extended his 100% professional record against former IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer, who caused “Danger” difficulties during the first half of the fight before the extra power of Muratalla slowed down the counterpunching from Farmer. It was a step up in opponent for Muratalla and showed he is moving in the right direction.

Following the victory over Farmer, the Californian winner said: “He was moving around. He was holding. So I had to keep putting on the pressure. And we came out with the victory.”

He continued: “I was just consistent with the pressure. I just kept putting it on. My team told me to keep putting it on. I was breaking him down round by round.”

Muratalla Targets World Title Shot

Following his decision win over Farmer, Muratalla was asked who he wanted to face next, and the 27-year-old said: “I want the champions next. Berinchyk called my name. I’m calling out his name right now. If I can’t get Berinchyk, then I want Shakur.”

Denys Berinchyk is the WBO champion and won the title with a career-best split decision win against Emanuel Navarrete. Shakur Stevenson recently returned to the ring and successfully defended his WBC lightweight strap in a comfortable decision win over Artem Harutyunyan.
