‘I Have Fallen Out of Love With the Sport’: British Super Lightweight Star Hints at Retirement
On Saturday, October 19, Ohara Davies (25-3, 18 KOs) will return to the ring for the first time since his crushing first-round defeat against Ismael Barroso. His latest fight will be at the Copper Box Arena London against rising prospect Adam Azim (11-0, 8 KOs) in the main event of the Boxxer Promotions card, shown live on Sky Sports for fight fans in the United Kingdom – while those in the United States can catch the action on Peacock. Ahead of this vital fight, Davies has spoken BoxingScene about falling out of love with the sport and this possibly being his last fight.

Davies Talks Losing Passion for Boxing
It’s a unique position for a fighter to be entering a vital bout knowing they may walk away from the sport regardless of the result. Some may find it freeing and others may feel added pressure. Davies travelled to America earlier this year, where he was destroyed by Barroso in the first round, which destroyed the Hackney fighter’s American dream.
The result and the manner of the defeat would be a blow to anyone’s career – but it seems Davies is considering ending his career after the October 19 contest against Azim, regardless of whether he pulls off the upset. Defeats to Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall raised serious questions about the potential of Davies to win world titles and the latest loss has seemingly left those hopes in tatters.
Davies spoke to BoxingScene about his future and said: “I don’t know if I’ll box again after this fight.”
He added: “I have fallen out of love with the sport of boxing, and this might be my last fight.”
