Jarrett Hurd-Julian Williams II set for December

One of the best fights that took place this year gets a chance to end the year as Julian Williams and Jarrett Hurd are set for their rematch on December 14 per a report to Boxingscene.com.

In the report from Boxingscene, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) has the front-runner for the 2019 Fight of the Year in my mind and others slated for part two to headline a December 14 show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York per multiple sources to them. The date reserved for the fight is to air on Fox TV.

Their first contest, which took place in Hurd’s backyard of EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia was a tight 12 round contest which saw Williams become victorious by unanimous decision. For the first fight, Williams came in as a considerable underdog, even the broadcast had mentioned as such. Despite that, Williams came out the winner and his the current holder of the WBA and IBF 154 pound belts because of it.

Hurd (23-1, 16 KOs)is looking to restart a title reign he nearly had for over two-plus years since stopping Tony Harrison in the ninth round back in February 2017. Despite his first career loss to Williams, Hurd chose to execute a rematch clause in their contract setting up the December contest. One change for Team Hurd in the upcoming bout is a new trainer in his corner after separating with long-time one Ernesto Rodriguez in June.

Williams (27-1-1, 16 KOs) is looking to continue winning as he has won five straight since his first-ever loss to Jermall Charlo for the IBF title back in December 2016.

Before the rematch clause was taken, Williams hinted that he was awaiting the winner of the Jermell CharloTony Harrison match for the WBC 154 pound belt. That match was initially slated for June, but Harrison had to withdraw due to injury. PBC at the time of the injury, stated that it would be a possibility for Harrison and Charlo at the end of the year. Let’s see if that rematch may be a possibility to be on this card as well.
