Legal Troubles Follow ‘Day of Reckoning’ Defeat for Heavyweight Boxer

U.S. heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller recently participated in the Saudi Arabian “Day of Reckoning” pay-per-view on December 23. However, he’s in massive trouble for another fight outside a car dealership on January 2 in the Miami suburbs of Florida.

The 35-year-old Miller was taken into custody in Hollywood, Florida, on Tuesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting an employee at a car dealership that had repossessed his truck. He reportedly took off with the truck before being tracked down by authorities.

Legal Woes for Jarrell Miller

WSVN TV in Miami had more on Wednesday about what happened

From their report:

The incident took place at Haims Motors, located along the 2800 block of North State Road 7.

An employee of the dealership told detectives that a woman came up to him and said she had left her cellphone inside the truck that was recently repossessed by the dealership. The employee grabbed the keys of the black Dodge Ram to help the woman get the cellphone.

That’s when the employee said, Jarrell Miller grabbed him from behind, placed him in a chokehold and demanded the keys.

The victim said Miller, 35, slammed him to the ground and then grabbed the keys and fled in the truck.

Police said Miller did not know that the truck had a tracker inside, prompting detectives to locate the truck and arrest Miller in the area of Griffin Road.

Hollywood is a northern suburb of Miami in Broward County and Miller is charged there with two serious felonies: carjacking without a weapon and burglary with assault. After an initial court appearance Wednesday morning, Miller remained in the Broward County Jail as of Wednesday night.

Defeat at ‘Day of Reckoning’ and Previous Troubles

Miller (26-1-1) fought in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the card at the end of December, losing by a 10th-round TKO in a one-sided fight to Daniel Dubois. The bout was on the undercard of the co-main events for Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder fighting in separate fights.

Miller has previously had multiple positive drug tests for weight loss and performance-enhancing drugs and served over two years of suspension after his last violation.

The first of those positive drug tests and suspensions cost him a chance to fight then-unified heavyweight champion Joshua in the summer of 2019. Miller has never gotten close to that big stage or opportunity until Saudi.

The loss to Dubois and the latest accusations cast further doubt on whether we will ever see Miller in another serious boxing match.
