James Kirkland Signs to Davies Entertainment
Southpaw super welterweight James Kirkland, plans on reuniting with former trainer, Ann Wolfe as well as adding Bay Bay McClinton to his training staff and upstart management company, Davies Entertainment, in an effort to restart the boxer’s career the company announced today.
“This is a human-interest story as much as it is a sports story,” said Cameron Davies, CEO of Davies Entertainment in a press release. “James is hungry, he’s reconnected with Ann (Wolfe), we look forward to playing our part to get James back to fighting at a championship level.”
Kirkland (32-2, 28 KOs) was last in action back in May 2015, when he was stopped in the third round against Canelo Alvarez.
Kirkland represents the second boxer signed by Davies Entertainment in less than a week. Earlier they signed native San Antonio boxer Daniel “Da Beast” Baiz to a similar management package deal.
The man behind these signings Davies made a name for himself by becoming one of the global authorities in custom food truck builders and mobile business fabrication. Davies is now launching a creative hub which will include film production, a state of the art mobile recording studio, a graphic design & large format print company and a marketing consultation division. One of the film projects they are creating is the documentary “That’s a Wrap”, which will document Kirkland’s story with the goal to create a full-length documentary of Franklin’s return back to the ring.
Davies said in the release, “I have assembled a group of companies that can now be tasked to provide our boxers with resources that extend beyond training, whether film production, merchandise & marketing, or brand mobility we want to attempt to put a more current spin on how we manage our roster, providing resources that may not have been possible or easily accessed in the past.”
Kirkland was simply quoted in the release saying “I’m ready!” Below is a teaser of his Kirkland’s project.
