Jaime Munguía vs. Erik Bazinyan: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction

Jaime Munguía (43-1, 34 KOs) and Erik Bazinyan (32-0-1, 23 KOs) will look to return to winning ways when they eventually face each other.

The two super middleweights headline a Top Rank card – in association with Eye of the Tiger, Zanfer Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions – at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ. Fight fans in the United States can catch the action live on ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes. Those in the United Kingdom and Ireland can do so with Sky Sports. TSN will be the broadcaster in Canada.

Ahead of their 12-round clash on Friday, Munguía and Bazinyan spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.

Jaime Munguía vs. Erik Bazinyan Press Conference Quotes

Jaime Munguía

“I’m very excited to return on this important, patriotic month for my country,” said Munguía through an interpreter. “It’s an honor to have my first fight with Top Rank.”

“I’m excited to be once again working with my old team. I’m excited to be back in Big Bear. It’s been a great preparation. It’s been one of the best preparations of my career, and we’re going to have a great fight.”

“We have had a tough time since last year. We’ve had great fights against great fighters. We’ve been on great stages as well. That has helped us to get a lot of confidence. We learn more with each camp and will apply all the experience we have learned.”

Erik Bazinyan

“I’ve been in against top fighters for the past few years,” said Bazinyan. “I’ve fought and beaten anyone that my team has brought to me. This is a great opportunity. And I’m here to win.”

“We are well prepared. We have a game plan, had a great training camp with Marc [Ramsay]. He’s one of the best in the game. We did everything it took us to come and win Friday night.”

“It’s the right time for this fight. I have been ready for the past couple of years. When I get an opportunity like this, I take it. So, it’s time to let the world know who I am.”

Fight Prediction

Munguía and Bazinyan should be an entertaining bout for as long as it lasts. However, the former world champion should be too much for the Armernian-born Canadian. Expect this to be a fight where Munguía gradually breaks down his opponent before earning a stoppage win. Munguía to win via knockout by round eight.
