Jack Catterall Reveals Which Rival Fighter Has Agreed to Fight Him
Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) controversially defeated Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs) on February 26, 2022, with many who watched the fight believing Catterall had done enough to get the decision. The Scottish fighter was awarded a split decision win, with the judges scorecards reading 113-112 x2 for Taylor and 114-111 for the Chorley native. Many have called for the rematch, and it now appears it’s on, as Catterall has confirmed exclusively to IFLTV that Taylor has agreed to the rematch.

Catterall Reveals Taylor Accepts Rematch
At the beginning of the interview, Catterall explained why he withdrew from the negotiations to fight Richardson Hitchins: “After the last fight in October, I was told by my promoter and my manager, that we were going to make the Taylor fight.”
He further explained that he accepted his side of a rematch a couple of weeks ago. Talking about the importance of the Taylor fight, he revealed: “I believe it’s a fight he’s accepted.“

The Chorley native went on to explain: “The fights not happened through any fault of my own.” He continued: “We’re both in a position now, where the fight makes sense for us both. It’s a fight that I want. It’s a fight that he probably didn’t want, but he’s accepted now.” Catterall brought us all up to date by saying: “We’re in that period now, where we’re just waiting for a date and venue, so we can get it on.”

The two fighters have never held back on their opinions of each other, with many public spats on X. During the interview, Catterall was in no doubt he feels this fight has captured the British public, and it’s a big fight anywhere in the country.
He further explains he’s feeling confident and exclaimed: “I won’t be leaving it in the judge’s hands.“

He also delved into the frustration he’s felt since that first Taylor fight but said with confidence: “When I do put him to bed, it does cement my place with the top boys at 140(lbs) to go and fight Lopez, Haney, Garcia etc.” He continued: “It’s a fight that needs to happen. It needs to happen now.” He also revealed the fight has been accepted by both, with March and April the preference.
The Chorley fight said with a smile: “I can’t wait to smash his head in and be done with it all.“
