How Did Errol Spence-Terence Crawford Deal Finally Happen?

How Did Errol Spence-Terence Crawford Deal Finally Happen?

It’s been agreed to! Errol Spence and Terence Crawford have signed to meet for undisputed supremacy in the welterweight division in July. And we are eager to talk about that and hear from former WBA featherweight champ/now challenger Leigh Wood in a one-on-one conversation with our Dan Rafael, and we have fight previews of the title showdowns this weekend and more.

T.J. Rives and Dan go over how the Spence-Crawford deal was done? What’s the word on guaranteed money or not for these two unbeaten stars at 147 lb.? And, is there a rematch clause or not?

Then, hear from Wood, who readies to rematch Mexican Mauricio Lara Saturday night in Manchester, England. Lara upset him in February with a big left hand resulting in a knockdown and, then, a white towel stoppage by Wood’s corner. Now, they fight again just three months later for the WBA 126 lb. title.

The guys also preview the IBF 126 lb. title fight taking place in the same region in Belfast, Northern Ireland. That bout is between champ Luis Alberto Lopez and prominent, popular challenger Michael Conlan in the main event. Conlan seeks to become a world champion for the first time in front of his home fans. Meanwhile, Lopez would love to win and have his countryman Lara win the Wood fight and then be a potential unified featherweight clash between them, potentially in Mexico.

Next, they talk the WBO cruiserweight title bout in Bournemouth, England as champion Lawrence Okolie and challenger Chris Billam-Smith meet in a 12 round showdown there. Billam-Smith is the local favorite looking to upset Okolie and become world champ.

There’s fight news on the purse bid for Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois going to Usyk’s promter, K2 Promotions, and it appears the bout will now be in Poland in August.

We have more news on Devin Haney-Vasiliy Lomachenko PPV buys being close to 150,000 for Top Rank Boxing and ESPN+ and other fight cards coming this Summer, as well.

Finally, the guys have some some nostalgia on Muhammad Ali’s bizarre, controversial first round KO in his rematch with Sonny Liston 58 years ago Thursday. Get their thoughts on whether Ali-Liston II was fixed and Dan’s memorabilia from that historic May 1965 bout.
