Have You Seen This Pacquiao-Spence Card?

Well, Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. are set to clash on August 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada but what about the rest of the card that is taking place?

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reported on Friday the rest of the lineup. What we got was the following that will be a part of the main portion of the PPV under card:

Yordenis Ugas vs. Fabian Maidana for Ugas’s WBA “Super” welterweight title
Victor Ortiz vs. Robert Guerrero
Mark Magsayo vs. Julio Ceja

The pay-per-view price tag hasn’t been listed yet, but it’s safe to say, it’s going to be pretty much a card where we all will flock in for the main event and run out.

While we all wait for Premier Boxing Champions and Boxrec to make those matches official as it isn’t yet, Let’s just assume this is it and hope they have something better than this.

Example: we’re getting Robert Guerrero and Victor Ortiz to fight in 2021.

That is a fight between two battle-tested fighters, which on paper for me has shades of Francisco Santana and Josseito Lopez.  Which beforehand was going to be a classic war, but instead became Santana being target practice for ten rounds before the fight finally being stopped.  Ortiz (32-6-3, 25 KOs) was last seen in a majority draw against Devon “The Great” Alexander in an absolute shootout but also back in 2018.

Hear us discuss more of the weekend of fights from the PBC on Fox show in Newark, NJ, to the Matchroom Boxing Card in Suburban London, and even the Olympics are getting down to important fights, on “The Big Fight Weekend Podcast” by clicking below,

Guerrero (36-6-1, 20 KOs) has been on a three-fight win streak since that loss to Omar Figueroa Jr. back in 2017. However, those three wins have been against favorable opposition and the last one was Gerald Thomas on points back n 2019.  It’s a fight with two guys definitely looking to shake off the ring rust.

Ugas would’ve been in his first title defense probably against Spence, if Pacquiao wasn’t around. Instead, he has the belt instead that was elevated to him while Pacquiao was off for over a year and a half with his Senator duties.

Ugas (26-4, 12 KOs) will take on Fabian Maidana (18-1,13 KOs), the younger brother of former two-division world champion Marcos Maidana. Maidana was last in action in Argentina defeating Carlos Córdoba in April.  Ugas was last seen winning against Abel Ramos last September by split (but should’ve been unanimous) decision. Maidana will be a big step up in competition for Ugas, who we’ve seen batter lesser opposition time and time again

Magsayo (22-0, 15 KOs), repped by MP Promotions will take on Julio Ceja  (32-4-1, 28 KOs in a fun contest at 122 pounds. That is if Ceja doesn’t miss weight, as he didn’t leading up to the split draw he had against Brandon Figueroa back in 2019. Magsayo was last in action against Pablo Cruz back in April. Should be a fun test for Magsayo to see where he stacks up against the tough Ceja, who won against Rigoberto Hermosillo in a close split decision last October.

If this is Manny Pacquiao’s last fight in the ring, we’ll see if these are names you’ll need to remember for the next team trivia near you. And, as always, card is subject to change.
