Eddie Hearn Confirms PBC Talks: ‘We Are Actively Working Together’

Matchroom Boxing continues to be at the forefront of making many great fights in the boxing world. Matchroom Sport chairman Eddie Hearn, while in Atlantic City for Jaron Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) vs Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) spoke to iFL TV about his relationship with other promoters, including naming some intriguing fights he’s talking to Premier Boxing Champions about.

Hearn Discusses Promoter Relations

When asked about his relationship with PBC, Hearn revealed they are working on making a series of fights:We are actively working together with PBC to make great fights,” said Hearn.

When asked what fights, the Matchroom Sport chairman said: “On Callum Smith against Benavidez, on Dalton Smith against Puello, on Magsayo against Rocky Hernandez, on potentially Berlanga against Plant.”

“We’re talking all the time, so, we have a lot of potential. Right now, my relationship with Top Rank has always been solid. A few back and forths with Bob, but we can make any fight, any time,” Hearn said regarding his relationship with Top Rank.

“My relationship with Golden Boy, my relationship with PBC is good and strong. The communication lines are open. It’s the same with Queensberry. There’s never been a better time to make fights. There’s never been a better time for boxing promoters to come together and make the sport great again and that’s what was trying to do.”

The Future

Boxing promoters like Eddie Hearn and PBC are clearly working closer than ever, and it’s exciting to hear talks about intriguing fights in the works. Among the matchups Hearn flagged, Callum Smith vs. David Benavidez jumps out—a potential war that could steal the show. If that bout can be made it would now be for the WBC light heavyweight title, following the decision of Dmitry Bivol to vacate.

Following his one-sided defeat to Artur Beterbiev, many wrote Smith off, but he proved there was still plenty of ability and desire left, with an impressive win vs Joshua Buatsi.

If Hearn can make Edgar Berlanga vs Caleb Plant that should provide plenty of pre-fight entertainment and an eventful fight night.
