Matchroom Boxing has already been involved in many memorable cards in 2024, including the Riyadh Season cards. They are also set to be involved in more intriguing fights towards the end of the year, including Sunny Edwards vs. Galal Yafai. It now appears the promotional giant is set to host their first U.S. 2025 fight card early in the new year, as discussed by Dan Rafael on the latest Big Fight Weekend/Fight Freaks Unite Recap podcast.

Diego Pacheco Set to Headline, Andy Cruz to Feature

On the latest BFW/FFU podcast, Dan Rafael explained that the Nevada Commission agenda – has a request for an event on January 25 at the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas.

Rafael then revealed what the card will look like in more detail: “I am told that the card itself, what we will be seeing on that fight, is we will be seeing the top-notch up-and-coming super middleweight contender, my former 2023 prospect of the year Diego Pacheco returning in the main event. Opponent still to be determined.”

He continued: “And on the undercard, not sure if its the co-feature or further down. We will be the superb lightweight up-and-comer, the Olympic gold medallist who has dazzled as a professional thus far – and that is the excellent Cuban gold medalist Andy Cruz also on the show.”

“That’s going to be, I guess, the first American show of next year that Matchroom Boxing will do,” Rafael added.

Diego Pacheco (22-0, 18 KOs) is a fighter who has impressed throughout his career and is a real-life contender at super middleweight. In his last fight, he defeated Maciej Sulecki in impressive style, stopping the Pole in round number six. He’s exceptional at controlling the distance in his fights and carries power with both hands.

Andy Cruz (4-0, 2 KOs) was an exceptional amateur who has impressed greatly in the professional ranks. All four pro fights have been 10-round contests. Trained by Bozy Ennis, he has shown how technically fantastic he is. His last fight saw him stop Antonio Moran on the Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov undercard. He picks his punches brilliantly and has shown an ability to sit down on his punches and stop durable opponents, and at Big Fight Weekend, we can’t wait to see the talented Cuban back in action.
