Dave Allen recent form
Allen (25-8-2, 20 KOs) rivals Tyson Fury for how many times he’s retired. The White Rhino won two four-round fights in 2024 at the Skate Central, Sheffield, and it seemed Allen would never return to the bigger shows. However, he was offered an opportunity to face Johnny Fisher on the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury undercard. Allen lost by split decision, but won the rematch in style. A competitive loss to Arslanbek Makhmudov preceded a first round win over Karim Berredjem.
Filip Hrgovic recent form
Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) has flattered to deceive at times, but his talent is obvious. Since his stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois, Hrgovic has won his last two fights against Joe Joyce and David Adeleye.
Dave Allen vs Filip Hrgovic prediction
Allen is loved by much of the British boxing public with his honest, straight-talking and brave fighting style. Known as a brawler for much of his professional career, Allen was a good amateur, and since joining Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis, Allen has improved his conditioning and ability to pick his punches. The White Rhino is defensively savvy and very rarely gets caught. He also carries plenty of power, most noticeably with his left hook and overhand right.
Hrgovic was a talented amateur who looked at his best when he controlled the distance in his fights and punches long. He does seem to switch off at times in his fights, but does seemingly get a second wind, as he proved in the recent fights against Joyce and Adeleye.
Looking at the attributes of both, we are backing Hrgovic to win by unanimous decision. We expect Allen to have his moments, but the experience and ring IQ of Hrgovic should be enough for him to get the victory.
