Daniel Dubois Sends Brutal Warning to Anthony Joshua
On Saturday, June 1, Daniel Dubois recorded arguably the most impressive win of his career as he gradually broke down Filip Hrgovic to earn a TKO stoppage win, in the eighth round on the Matchroom vs. Queensberry card. The victory gave the Brit the IBF interim title, which puts him in line for the IBF heavyweight title, currently held by undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. Attention now turns to what could be next for Dubois, and the Brit has sent a warning to his countryman Anthony Joshua.

IBF Landscape
Following his impressive win over Hrgovic, Dubois appears full of confidence. The full IBF strap was expected to be up for grabs – but the governing body decided to make an interim title – which means Usyk is seemingly retaining his full belt for the time being. A clash between Dubois and AJ looks likely for September, with the IBF interim title going to the winner, with that fighter being first in line for a shot at Usyk‘s crown, should he not be stripped before his December 21 rematch against Tyson Fury.

“Dynamite” has made it clear he is ready to do battle against Joshua and spoke on a potential clash against his fellow Brit: “That’s what I’ve been hearing [that Joshua could be next], so let’s see.”
He continued: “[Being world champion] is a dream. From challenging for the world title to getting the chance to win the damn thing outright, that’s what I want.

Heavyweight Renaissance
Since Turki Alalshikh became involved in boxing, he has taken a keen interest in the heavyweight division, which has seen many fighters benefit, with Joshua and Dubois winning their last two fights. Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker are two others who have benefitted from these stacked Saudi cards. It remains to be seen what is next for the heavyweight division, but it looks like we will see some more intriguing bouts for the division in September, with the Fury-Usyk rematch coming in December.
