Daniel Dubois Talks Tough Ahead of Heavyweight Clash with Filip Hrgovic on June 1

On Saturday, June 1, Matchroom vs. Queensberry will happen in a 5v5 format at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. On that much-anticipated card, we will see Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) take on Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs). Ahead of their heavyweight clash – Dubois has spoken to Louis Hart at Boxing Social.

When asked about how he was feeling before taking on Hrgovic, he said: “Good, very comfortable, ready to go

Dubois was then asked about the opportunity to fight again in Saudi Arabia: “It’s very good you know, now this is the new mecca of boxing it seems, it’s good to be on these shows and get climbing up until you’re the one that everyone wants to see.”

He continued: “Every fight is big out here.”

Hart then asked the Brit about the ability of Hrgovic – Dubois said: “I don’t know, I’m the danger man. Whose he? He’s just another opponent, another fighter in there. I got to find a way to do it, find a way. We’ve worked hard enough. we’ve got the tools, and I just need to execute it on the night.”

Dubois also assessed the quality of opponents faced by Hrgovic and how he compares: “He’s not found anyone that like me, not found anyone.”

He added: “I got a good feeling about this fight, were see.”

Sparring and Improvements

Dubois then addressed the words from Hrgovic in the build-up and if their previous sparring sessions hold any relevance for the June 1 bout: “Yeah, he’s been making fun and whatever. But were see whose making fun on who on Saturday,” said the Brit.

He continued: “Sparring is sparring. The fight on Saturday is a totally different thing, I’m ready for it.”

Dubois also spoke on the benefit of having Kieran Farrell in his camp for this fight: “It’s been really good, giving me that sharpness, that speed and that quick in and out movement, fast reflexes. It’s been top-notch, and I’m glad we brought him in.”

When asked about a potential fight with Anthony Joshua, Dubois mentioned the need to beat Hrgovic but did say: “Yeah, fight him next. That’s the plan.”
