Charles Conwell To Appear on Paul-Woodley Undercard

Big time boxing hasn’t been in Cleveland in a hot minute and all of that is about to change as natives Charles Conwell and Montana Love are to appear in separate bouts on the upcoming Jake Paul-Tyrone Woodley undercard on August 29 from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse or as I knew it as, Lebron James’s old apartment.

The Showtime pay-per-view event will have Conwell (15-0, 11 KOs) fight for the 3rd time ever in Cleveland and his first fight back on Showtime since last October when he stopped Wendy Toussiant in nine rounds. Conwell was originally slated with others to be on the Triller card headlined by Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. but that was scrapped when that fight was delayed back in June. Conwell instead took a stay-busy and defeated Silverio Ortiz down in Ashland, Kentucky on June 26.

Love(15-0-1, 7 KOs) was last seen on Showtime defeating Jerico Walton on a ShoBox card last Feburary before the pandemic broke out and is in the midst of a four win fight streak following his 2018 draw to Kenneth Sims Jr. Lowe was last in action stopping Olaide Fijabi in two rounds over in Dubai.

Love opponents will be announced at a later time, while Conwell is slated to take on Boston southpaw Mark DeLuca (25-2, 15 KOs) as reported by Jake Donovan of Boxingscene.

I’d be lying to the public if I told you I had any interest in the main event of boxing’s new face Jake Paul taking on former MMA fighter Tyrone Woodley, let alone pay for on pay-per-view. The supporting bouts here however, which also include Amanda Serrano in action has gotten me off that ledge in what is shaping up to be an exciting atmosphere in Cleveland at the end of next month. If you haven’t seen Conwell, Love and Serrano in action before, you’re missing out on two prospects on the rise and a female fighter who arguably can be on everyone’s pound for pound list both male or female.
