The Puerto Rican star has exuded confidence throughout the build-up to the fight and has spoken about Canelo’s time being up: “He already did his time. For me, his time is done. I think he’s already going out that door where he has his millions of dollars. He doesn’t have nothing to prove no more in the sport of boxing.”

When talking about the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico element of the fight: “It feels amazing. For me, this fight for sure is going down in the history books,” said Berlanga.

Talking about his aim for the fight, “The Chosen One” revealed: “My main thing right now is getting that W.”

Berlanga then revealed how he thinks Canelo views him: “What he does think is that I lack IQ, he knows I’m a big puncher, he knows I’m dangerous, he knows that any punch I throw at him, that if he’s not alert I could put him out.”

Asked how he will approach the Canelo fight: “First round, I got to put it on him. I got to make him feel (the power) so he can see.”

He continued: “If he doesn’t, he’s going to try and walk me down like he did (Jermell) Charlo, like how he did Munguía. He’s not going to respect the power. He’s a guy, that if he sees any weaknesses, he’s going to take it to you.”

The Puerto Rican fighter added: “The respect is out the door.”
