Shocking End of 2024 KO Wins Ring Magazine’s Upset Award
2024 was a fantastic year for boxing, with many fights taking place that we had only dreamed of, including Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 1&2. The Ring Magazine awards took place on January 11, with many fighters and magical moments receiving their justified praise. We saw many expected wins last year, but there were also plenty of upsets to reflect on. The Ring’s Upset of the Year award went to Bruno Surace and his stunning sixth-round stoppage win over Jaime Munguía in Tijuana.
Bruno Surace’s Stunning KO Earns Upset of the Year
Ring Magazine Awards Bruno Surace’s Shocking Victory
Munguía, having his fourth fight of 2024, started the faster, popping out his jab early on. The Mexican fighter enjoyed an impressive second round, dropping his opponent with a big left hook. Surace recovered well – having success in round three, but Munguía was mostly in control.
The Frenchman began to have more success as the fight progressed, and in the sixth round, Surace landed a monster right hand, sending the Mexican crashing to the canvas, leading the referee to wave the fight off. It was a stunning upset and was deservedly rewarded at the Ring Magazine awards.
